What Does This Mean?
Xanadu Quantum Technologies successfully debuted on the NASDAQ stock exchange, becoming the first public company specialized in light-based quantum computing. Their unique hardware uses photons to process information, allowing the system to function at room temperature rather than in extreme deep-freeze environments. This milestone follows a period of significant financial growth and successful testing of their scalable technology.
This Matters To Investors
This public listing provides a direct way for you to invest in the growing "photonic" sector of the quantum market. The move into public trading suggests high commercial confidence and creates a clear benchmark for the financial value of light-based computing. You now have a transparent view into the revenue and growth potential of a technology that simplifies quantum infrastructure for future business use.
C. Quantum Applications
Quantum Biosensors Revolutionize Exosome Cancer Diagnosis (April 2026)
A new class of quantum sensors has outperformed classical methods in identifying cancer-indicative exosomes. These sensors detect magnetic shifts at a sub-atomic level that are invisible to traditional lab equipment. This application marks a major win for quantum-enhanced healthcare diagnostics.

What Does This Mean?
Scientists created a new class of quantum sensors that identify signs of cancer with much greater accuracy than traditional laboratory tools. These devices work by measuring tiny magnetic changes at the sub-atomic level to spot early disease markers. This breakthrough successfully moves quantum technology into the medical field to improve how doctors find and diagnose illness.
This Matters To You and I
This innovation means you and your loved ones may have access to faster and more reliable cancer screenings. Early detection through these sensors significantly increases the success of medical treatments and long-term health outcomes. You can feel more secure knowing that healthcare is becoming more precise and capable of catching health issues sooner.
D. Visual Effects (VFX)
Chaos V-Ray 7 Update 3 Reinstates AMD GPU Support (April 2026)
The latest V-Ray release brings back full support for AMD GPUs, offering more hardware flexibility for studios. It also includes AI-accelerated denoising and improved USD (Universal Scene Description) support. This update is critical for cross-platform pipelines and reduces render times for complex scenes.

What Does This Mean?
The newest version of V-Ray restores the ability to use AMD graphics cards to power high-end visual effects and rendering. This update adds artificial intelligence to clean up grain in images and improves the way different 3D software programs share data. These changes allow your existing hardware to produce high-quality cinematic frames in much less time.
This Matters To VFX Artists & Film Industry
This update gives you the freedom to choose your preferred hardware without sacrificing the speed or quality of your renders. By using AI to handle complex tasks, you can complete projects faster and more easily meet demanding studio deadlines. You now have a more flexible and efficient workflow that supports collaborative filmmaking across various technical platforms.
PART 2 : VISIONARIES OF LIGHT
Aerith’s work deals with light and image. It crosses the boundaries of matter, particle physics, and art, specifically visual effects in film and imaging in other media. People who work in these fields, which are often considered far afield from each other, often bring together science, technology and artistic expression. Their contributions to our world are important, maybe even fundamental to the expression of human ideas. That is why we recognize them here as Visionaries of Light. In this edition of VOL, we recognize two people:
RHYS SALCOMBE - VISUAL EFFECTS
Rhys Salcombe is a distinguished Visual Effects Supervisor at DNEG who recently achieved industry acclaim for his work on the cinematic epic Dune: Part Two. He led the creation of the film's immersive environmental effects, a feat that secured the 2025 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. Salcombe is a master of integrating complex procedural simulations with photorealistic live-action plates, creating a seamless and breathtaking experience for audiences worldwide.
His innovative "sand and spice" simulation techniques are a highlight of his technical mastery, defining the visual identity of the desert world. By utilizing advanced simulation tools, he captures the physical essence of vast dunes and shimmering atmospheres with incredible precision. This achievement provides a gold standard for technical excellence in modern filmmaking. We congratulate Rhys Salcombe on his extraordinary Academy Award win. His work is part of the evolution of visual storytelling.
TAL DAVID - QUANTUM ART & COMPUTING
Tal David is the visionary CEO of Quantum Art, where he explores the fascinating intersection of quantum algorithms and creative generation. He focuses on how the unique properties of quantum randomness and entanglement can generate entirely new visual aesthetics and structures. By applying these complex physical concepts to the creative process, David produces unique digital imagery that reflects the underlying patterns of the quantum world.
As a bridge between the precision of quantum computing and the boundless imagination of visual effects, Tal David represents the literal embodiment of the Visionaries of Light section. His work provides a pioneering framework for future artists to explore the quantum landscape, merging rigorous science with evocative art. We applaud Tal David for his groundbreaking leadership. His work is essential for defining the visual horizon of the next decade.

PART 3: AERITH NEWS
Aerith has two things of note this edition:
- Aerith Corp has passed the quarter finals for the 2026 Pepperdine Most Fundable Companies competition, and have been accepted for consideration in the semi-final round! One of the most prestigious events for startups and expanding companies, the MFC competition performs stringent, penetrating and industry standard business analysis of the companies it accepts into the competition. Even passing into the quarter finals is strong industry validation of Aerith’s business. We are honored to be in consideration for the very exclusive next step.
- Quantum Industry Showcase 2026 - Aerith’s CEO Diamond Monique Washington and COO Shadow Dragu-Mihai attended UCSB’s 2026 Quantum Industry Showcase in April. We were honored to meet keynote speaker from QoLad, John Martinis, who won the Nobel Prize in 2025 for his work in quantum tunnelling. We were among the industry leaders there: D-Wave, Rigetti, Google Quantum AI, IBM and others.
